Kevin Schneider - "Akahige"

Kevin Schneider is the chief instructor for the Bujinkan Akahige Dojos. Kevin began his training in the martial arts in 1971, He began his study of Bujinkan Budo Taijutsu in 1981. He first met Bujinkan grand-master Hatsumi Masaaki in September, 1982. From 1984 until 1987, he served as one of the instructors at the Dayton, Ohio dojo of Stephen K. Hayes.

In 1987, he traveled to Japan and was accepted by Hatsumi-sensei as a personal student. At that time, he was also given membership as a licensed instructor in the Bujinkan. Following directions from Hatsumi-sensei, he returned to United States and established the Bujinkan Akahige Dojo. Kevin became a licensed senior instructor (Shidoshi) in the Bujinkan system in 1991, and he was recently awarded his 14th degree black belt by Hatsumi-sensei.

In addition to his ongoing studies of Budo Taijutsu, he also has studied Tomiki-ryu aikido, Chinese Kung-fu, and Kodokan Judo.  He is a manager for a nationwide information systems consulting company and also works as a professional Firefighter/Emergency Medical Technician  and as an industrial safety educator.

 

Tony Brooks is the senior instructor of the Bujinkan Bushigokoro Dojo in Chicago. Tony began his life in the martial arts in 1980 studying Tai Chi Chuan, Boxing, and Jeet Kune Do. In 1982 he began training in the Bujinkan.

While training at Honbu Dojo on October 22, 2000 Mr. Brooks passed his godan (5th degree black belt) test and was awarded his Shidoshi Menkyo (teaching license).

Tony is a trained psychologist and earns his living as a mental health professional.

 

Shidoshi-ho Kenneth R. Pangburn founded  the Bujinkan Mizu Nagare Dojo in Minneapolis, MN. in June of 1999 under the sponsorship of Shihan Kevin Schneider.

Ken began his training in the Bujinkan arts in 1994 at the Minneapolis Bujinkan Shibu, a satellite group of the Bujinkan Akahige Dojo under Robert K. Ruby III.

On November 17th 2001, Ken received the rank of Yondan (4th degree black belt)

Kenneth is the operations manager of a small business in suburban Minneapolis and is a privately contracted security consultant. Ken founded and runs the Bujinkan Ittaikan Dojo on the south side of Minneapolis.

 
Shidoshi Thom Peterson is the head instructor for the Bujinkan Dojo in Hudson, WI. Thom began his training in 1981 under Robert Bussey. During the next several years, Thom attended several training sessions with Robert Bussey, Stephen Hayes, Bud Malstrom and Larry Beaver.

Put off by the way the whole "Ninja Boom" seemed to be careening out of control, Thom began a long period of solo training in the late 80's.

Thom re-entered the Bujinkan through the Mizu Nagare Dojo in early 2000 to find that all the great things he remembered about training were still there. In October 2001 Thom made his first trip to Japan to study at the Hombu Dojo, and in March of 2004 Thom passed the 5th dan test and became a fully licensed Bujinkan Dojo instructor.

He currently makes his living as a professional Magician, while earning a part-time income as a cartoonist (though he really wants to be Spiderman).

 
Ethan Capers began his martial arts training at age six, under Frank Dux. Over the years, his training went on into Tae Kwon Do, in which he holds a 4th Degree black belt. Later, he founded the Dragon Gate Shin Bop Sool Korean Martial System, having spent over ten years researching and rebuilding it from historical records.

Ethan began his study of Ninpo and Budo Taijutsu in 1996 under Shidoshi Thomas Maienza of the Bujinkan Kage Dojo in Los Angeles, California. After relocating to Minneapolis, he joined Mr. Kenneth Pangburn in study under Sensei Robert Ruby, and then under Shihan Kevin Schneider.

Ethan continues to deepen his studies by visiting Japan to train with Hatsumi Sensei and others, and regularly attending Seminars given by other Bujinkan Instructors here in the States.

He passed for Godan and was given his Shidoshi Menkyo on November 12, 2004 by Soke Masaaki Hatsumi. He is the head instructor for the Bujinkan Mizu Nagare Dojo in Minneapolis, Minn.
